National Siding Contractors Directory
There are a number of siding contractors out there to choose from, but how do you know who is reputable and competent? The best place to start is by asking your neighbors or family members if they have any recommendations or bad experiences. Many times, someone you know will have had the same work done recently and can advise you who to use or who to stay away from if they were unsatisfied.
Be sure any siding contractors you work with have adequate liability insurance. Anyone with a truck and a ladder can claim to be a siding expert, so there are plenty of uninsured one-man operations. Always ask for written proof of insurance instead of taking the contractor's word that he is covered. You can never be too careful for a siding installation job that will require the contractor to climb on your roof.
Find out about any warranties ahead of time. Some siding contractors will guarantee both labor and materials, but others will only give you the manufacturer's warranty on the siding material itself. Get everything in writing, including a copy of the manufacturer's warranty, just in case the contractor cannot be located in the future.
